Several young adults visited the dog owner’s home at 2:00 am after drinking at a club. The dog, an Akita, kept as a family pet, was prancing around greeting everyone when a female friend knelt down and began to pet the dog on his cheeks. He attacked her, biting her in the face.
I was hired as an expert on canine provocation by the plaintiff to prove she did not provoke the dog. I created a temperament test and evaluated the dog. I found that the owners knew there were certain ways you could not pet it.
The dog owners knew their dog was dangerous and failed to warn the victim about the dog before it attacked.
